5 Exercises You Can Do At Your Desk

Whether you’re at home or in the office, you’ll likely be sitting at a desk for hours on end. It’s times when you’re deep in your work that you don’t realise how uncomfortable your sitting position is or how poor your posture is. Try these 5 exercises you can do at your desk to recharge and revitalise the body and mind.

Neck

Lay your head to the side with your ear parallel to the floor. Use the hand of the same side to gently push the head down to stretch the neck. Stay in the position for 30 seconds and repeat on the opposite side.

Arms

Perform an overhead reach by leaning to one side at the waist with your top arm stretched over your head. Extend the arm as much as possible. Stay in the position for 30 seconds and repeat on the opposite side. This stretch also activates your back muscles.

Chest

Sit on the front half of the chair and place your hands at the back of the chair. Stretch your chest forward and hold this position for 30 seconds while taking deep breaths.

Spine

In a regular sitting position, turn to the side and clasp the back of your chair to twist your back into the stretch. Stay in the position for 30 seconds and repeat on the opposite side.

Legs

Sitting on the front half of your chair, lengthen your legs in front of you and fold at the waist to lean forward towards your toes. Hold this position for 30 seconds while taking deep breaths.
